A small reference notebook
Everyday Design
Plain notes about arranging information and making small things easier to use.
This notebook collects short explanations that are useful to revisit. Each note focuses on one small question, with plain navigation and local resources.
Start reading
A page is easier to arrange when its reader has a clear task. Put the information needed for that task near the beginning, then provide supporting detail where it becomes useful. This gives both a quick reader and a careful reader a route through the material.
A useful label tells someone what they will find or what an action will do. Familiar, specific words reduce the need for an extra explanation. When the same action appears in several places, keeping the wording consistent helps a reader recognize it again.
